Octavo álbum de la excelente cantante y compositora estadounidense de 'smooth jazz' Melody Gardot (Nueva Jersey, EEUU, 1985). Es, sin duda, el más romántico y nostálgico de su exitosa trayectoria, y en el que aflora con más fuerza la influencia de la cultura lusófona y en particular la de la música brasileña, que, antes de dedicarse a la música, conoció durante la fase de recuperación del gravísimo accidente que marcó su vida en 2003.
Es imposible desligar el intimismo y la calidez de su canto de la bossa nova ni su sobriedad, firmeza e intensidad dramática del estilo de Elis Regina, por ejemplo, ni tampoco se puede dejar de relacionar los exquisitos arreglos de cuerdas de Vince Mendoza y la producción de Larry Klein con la aportación de Claus Ogerman a históricos discos de Tom Jobim y João Gilberto. toda esa música brasileña que Melody escuchó en aquel durísimo pasaje de su juventud ya mencionado.
Además, por los dos temas atribuidos en exclusiva a ella misma, escritos en excelente portugués, por la presencia de Dadi Carvalho y Pierre Aderne como coautores de varias canciones y por el acompañamiento del propio Dadi Carvalho, de Nando Duarte, de Philippe Baden Powell y de Paulinho da Costa en otros tantos temas -incluso la presencia del espléndido cantante portugués Antonio Zambujo y de la guitarra de Anthony Wilson, que también tienen 'álbumes brasileños' en sus respectivos curricula- el espíritu de la música brasileña está tanto o más presente que el del blues tan querido por ella.
Aunque en sentido estricto no se trata de música brasileña, para cualquier amante de la misma que no conozca todavia a Melody Gardot, este álbum va a ser un sorprendente y delicioso descubrimeinto.
