"Jasmine Godoy, a Dutch-born Brazilian singer/songwriter/guitarist, has released her long-awaited new album! The new album is a confluence of the high-level "Minas New Generation" music scene and contemporary jazz trends such as Becca Stevens and Hiatus Kaiyote. A great masterpiece that brings a "new sound" to the evolving Minas New Generation. When Rafael Martini visited Japan in 2022 with Antonio Loureiro, Jasmin Godoy was the first artist he mentioned as one of his favorites. Born in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, she began composing in English and Portuguese at the age of 11, and graduated from the University of Music in Utrecht at the age of 17. She is a singer/songwriter who paints a landscape that never repeats itself, with her soft voice accompanied by skillful guitar, and supported by strong rhythms and diverse harmonies. Godoy moved to her roots in Brazil to connect more directly with the musicians of Minas, her great source of inspiration.
The album "Show Me the Way" was produced by Minas musicians old and new, from Ouachita to members of the Moons, and with Leonardo Marques as producer/recording engineer. The album is a very personal record of the artist's personal growth, pilgrimage to Santiago, and spiritual matters. Musically, the album features not only local Minas Milton Nascimento and Lo Borges, but also Brazilian legends such as Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil, Stevie Wonder, Ella Fitzgerald, Joni Mitchell, Pat Metheny, as well as They are even influenced by contemporary artists such as Hiatus Kaiyote, Becca Stevens, and Jacob Collier. The result is an even more powerful update of the voice that is the hallmark of Minas music. The result is a piece of music that will likely continue to be a key player in the evolving new Minas generation, and will have a singular presence in the future.
