"The guitar duo ”Violões do Brasil” - Brazilian Guitars - was formed in 2009 with the intention to present works by popular brazilian composers such as Ernesto Nazareth, Garoto and Baden Powell, and compositions by the members, Rogério Souza and Jens Viggo Fjord. Promoted and organized by The Danish Cultural Institute in Rio de Janeiro, they made a successful tour the same year playing in a number of important clubs and cultural institutions in Rio and São Paulo.
This spring they have done a new tour in Brasil organised by the Danish Cultural Institute, and owing to the entusiastic response of the audience, the Institute is now planning concert activities in Scandinavia for the autumn of 2012, as well as new tour i Brasil in 2013.

Rogério Souza, guitarist (6 and 7-string), composer and arranger from Rio de Janeiro, is one of the important representatives of the genuine brazilian guitartradition. Since his professional debut in the early 1980'ties he has always has been envolved in big events in the brazilian popular music, specially the choro and the samba, participating as musician, arranger and music director in tv-sessions, recordings and concerts in collaboration with a large number of brazilian top-artists such as Baden Powell, Sivuca, Raphael Rabello, Turibio Santos, Paulinho da Viola, Joao Bosco, Ney Matogrosso, Ivan Lins, Elizeth Cardoso, Dona Ivone Lara, Elsa Soares, Zélia Duncan, Leila Pinheiro, Paulo Moura, Guinga, Altamiro Carrilho, Cristóvão Bastos and the choro-group Época De Ouro.
He has appeared at important venues such as the Festival Villa Lobos (Brazil), Montmartre, Int. Jazz Festival (Denmark), SOB's, Blue Bird, and Zanzibar (New York and New Jersey), Stadgarden Festival (Cologne, Germany), 3rd Festival of Ibero-American Culture (Santiago, Chile), Festival de Inverno, Guimarães, and Casa de America Latina (Portugal) as well as he has participated in tours in Italy, Serbia, Croatia, USA, China, among others.
As an arranger, Rogerio has worked with Ivan Lins, Sergio Ricardo, Delcio Carvalho, and for the singer Ney Matogrosso’s Batuque show, touring for two years throughout Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, and Portugal.
Co-founder of the Rio de Janeiro-based group, Nó em Pingo D'Água, one of Brazil’s most innovative choro ensembles. The group has released several cd’s that explores new aspects of the genuine brazilian choro and samba-traditions.
As a teacher Rogério Souza has directed workshops in several important centres - Berklee College of Music, Boston, musicschools in Chile, Venezuela, Argentina, Uruguay, Peru, among others - and his pedagogic work has been recognised by various publications: "Choro 100", "SongBook do Choro" vol. 1/2/3 (Lumiar Editora), "SongBook do Choro" vol. 1/2 (Vitalli).
As a composer, Rogerio won in the 1997 Festival of Choro in Rio de Janeiro an award for best composition with the tune ”Conversa Fiada”. After having done a large number of recordings together with diferent artists, in 2006 he released his first solo CD, featuring his own compositions as well as tunes by guitarist Yamandu Costa, bandolinist Rodrigo Lessa and by Jens Viggo Fjord.

In Denmark Jens Viggo Fjord is one of the pioners of the brazilian guitar having played concerts solo or together with important brazilian musicians living in this area, since the 1980’ties. As a composer his sambas, waltzes and frevos has been recognized in several oportunities, especially in 2009 with the edition, by the danish publishers GUF, of the songbook ”12 brazilian tunes for sologuitar by Jens Viggo Fjord”. Jens Viggo Fjord has released 6 CD’s with his own compositions recorded in Brasil and Spain together with outstanding musicians as Alemão, Magno Bissoli, Antonio Serrano and Eva Durán, among others, that proves his deep engagement and creativity both in the brazilian music as in flamenco. His album ”Aguas” recieved the following critics in the national newspaper Politiken: "Fjord is a talented guitarplayer and also a skilled composer. A couple of his tunes may sound a little mainstream, but the majority of them are distinguished compositions, and among these are the sambawalz "Borboleta" - played in duet with the guitarist Rogério Souza - and ”Janaína”, which is performed solo by the composer himself, pure pearls."
